We know that education can open doors – to new opportunities, a better job and a better life. A passion for giving back is simply part of the ProEd, Maintec culture.
Brahmi Educational and Cultural Trust is a nonprofit, humanitarian organization in Bangalore, India dedicated to uplifting and educating disadvantaged rural children who have no access to educational resources. Without schools, teachers or opportunities for learning, disadvantaged children from poor families, especially in non-urban and impoverished areas, often fall prey to child labor and remain locked in a cycle of poverty for the rest of their lives. Brahmi’s mission is to transform the lives of these children through education by building schools in impoverished areas where there are no other educational opportunities.
Raleigh-based Maintec Technologies operates an office in Bangalore and therefore maintains a strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in both the USA and India. We are especially proud to support Brahmi. This non-governmental organization (NGO) is sustained by the collective efforts of corporations, individuals, families and communities, and involves the support of our employees as well. As a company, we contribute 1 percent of our revenue to Brahmi, and our employees voluntarily contribute 1 percent of their salary to the program.
In Tune With Brahmi’s Mission
 Brahmi’s goal to empower and uplift disadvantaged children in rural areasof India is in tune with Maintec’s CSR interests. We are excited tobring meaningful and effective education a little closer to these children, who might not otherwise have access to it, by jointly running a concept rural school recognized by the Karnataka Education Department named Anjana Vidyakendra in a village called Desapandaguttahalli. This village is located in Anekal Taluk, about 40 km east of Bangalore and 16 km away from Whitefield, closer to the temple village ChikkaTirupathi.
 Anjana Vidyakendra has already provided elementary education to 150+ children by teaching them about nutrition, health, hygiene and cultural values. The school’s library nurtures a love of reading and learning, and a new computer lab has opened up the world of computers to Anjana’s students. In turn, these children and their families have benefited through their commitment to learning by building a stronger community and by setting their sights on higher education. We are proud of the strong foundation we have laid through elementary education to strengthen and prepare students for high school and college or vocational education.
Anjana Vidyakendra was conceived as an elementary school and currently provides quality education to 150+ children at pre-primary (4-6 years) and primary (1st through 7th graders between 6-14 years) levels. The school’s supporters are gearing up to build the infrastructure and gather the necessary resources for opening a high school to maintain continuity of education for Anjana’s current students.
A Mutually Beneficial Partnership
Maintec Technologies remains dedicated to supporting Brahmi as long as its ideology resonates with our CSR interests so we can educate as many impoverished rural children as possible. By involving all our internal and external stakeholders in this Maintec charity initiative—employees and customers—we are able to convert a large, disadvantaged population of India into educated, capable and useful human resources, which we require for our own existence as a Company. We believe this partnership is a mutually beneficial approach to making a real difference to those in need. They are able to learn about the methods and culture of a corporate world, and to become active and responsible members of society. |
